A Russian cultural and business center, the “Russian House,” will open in Xi’an, the capital of China’s Shaanxi Province, according to Boris Titov, Russian Presidential Special Representative for Relations with International Organizations for Sustainable Development Goals. The facility will serve as a platform for promoting Russian brands and gastronomy.
The building is being provided on favorable terms, and a joint venture is being established for the project. The new company will focus on promoting major Russian brands in the Chinese market, with particular emphasis on products already popular in cross-border trade, such as honey, sugar, and milk.
Beyond commercial spaces, the Russian House will feature an extensive entertainment program. The project includes the opening of two restaurants, one of which will operate in the unique format of a gastronomic theater — combining dining with theatrical performance.
The initiative represents a significant step in expanding Russian cultural and commercial presence in China. By combining retail, dining, and entertainment, the Russian House aims to create an immersive experience that showcases Russian culinary traditions and products to Chinese consumers.
The project builds on growing bilateral cooperation and reflects the increasing interest of Chinese consumers in Russian culture and cuisine. The gastronomic theater concept, in particular, offers an innovative approach to introducing Russian food culture through experiential dining.
